Power Systems Engineering (PSE2409)
This is a fantastic opportunity for an electrical engineering student to gain valuable work experience in a growing and dynamic company which has offices in Bristol and Cardiff. Mentored throughout by the Power Systems Team you will be involved in a wide range of projects and studies and analyses, experience the use of industry leading power systems, electromagnetic transient (EMT) and finite element software, prepare commercial and technical proposals and technical reports. You will further develop the technical knowledge you have gained throughout your studies to solve a wide range of challenging problems and communicate with clients, articulating complex issues in a concise manner in both written and oral form. This is an experience not to be missed and will be an invaluable addition to your CV and future career prospects.
Tasks:
Power Systems modelling, load flow and fault level studies
Harmonic analysis and quality of supply issues.
Protection system design and setting calculation.
Generator modelling, dynamic studies and stability analysis.
Specification of key electrical equipment.
HV Earthing system and lightning protection system design.
EMC/EMF assessment.
Scripting and automation
Skills:
Currently studying a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, industrial or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Demonstrate a proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
Ability to develop and apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to establish the accuracy and relevance of the information.
